Quoting Davies

"Do not suppose, however, that I intend to urge a diet of classics on anybody. I have seen such diets at work. I have known people who have actually read all, or almost all, the guaranteed Hundred Best Books. God save us from reading nothing but the best."

"The great book for you is the book that has the most to say to you at the moment when you are reading. I do not mean the book that is most instructive, but the book that feeds your spirit. And that depends on your age, your experience, your psychological and spiritual need."

Who the fuck is "Ben?"

"Ben" is a legendary creature with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. (As if you didn't know that, Bryan.)

Funny, that's almost the exact opposite of a manticore... The Manticore being one of Davies' great works.

I'll say it again: it all comes full-circle here on book-loop.

Ben has never in his life consumed coffee. Let alone the strong black variety. I do, however, enjoy coffee ice cream--though my ice cream intake is more or less non-existant these days. It is kind of odd living in Seattle and not drinking coffee. Sometimes I think I'd be a better writer if I camped out all day with my fellow pseudo-intellectuals who dot the cafés of Belltown, Capitol Hill and all points North. Sometimes I think I would absorb some of their pseudo-intellectual spirit through osmosis. Other times I think I would grow quite sad observing all the others who might feel just like me.

But yes, I do I have talons.

And, Bryan, that's why it's called a Loop.
